The day of March 14th, 2011 and announced on the website on March 18th, 2011 in the news.

I received my privilege of being part of the staff committers into the FreeBSD repository as [email protected] mentored by [email protected] and [email protected] cf. welcoming access grant and mentors file.

At that time, FreeBSD was still using cvs and was about to switch to subversion. So, I can say I have experienced the 3 differents version control systems while working on the project because nowadays git is used.

Today, we are 10 years later and I’m still active and doing commits. While my area of focus has shifted a little bit and I was sporadically present in previous years, I’m still very enthusiast about The FreeBSD project and community.

I did

• joined the working group team on [email protected] and [email protected]
• experienced the switch from cvs, to subversion to git
• experienced the switch from GNATS to Bugzilla
• contributed content via our Moinmoin wiki instance
• created and maintained new ports cf. Portscout Repology
• fixed severals bugs cf. Bugzilla instance
• wrote an handy python automation tool to work with our bugtracker systems getpatch and README.getpatch
• wrote scripts to automate and reduce tasks burden and toil cf. FreeBSD maintainer scripts
• created and participated in code reviews via our Phabricator instance
• pushed countless commits
• submitted patches and pull requests to pkg, poudriere and pytoport
• submitted patches and pull requests to support a better integration of third party softwares in FreeBSD
• participated in Developer Summits, Hackathons and Bugathons

For the next years, I would like and try to focus more on sources aspects of things in FreeBSD. So far, it is a really great and rewarding experience to be part of such big opensource project and collaborate with great individuals distributed all over the world.

Looking toward the following years
